What is Trichotomy? The Power of Balance / Part 11

Remaining with our central segment of the human psyche - our Intelligence (soul), we will explore one of its components - our emotions. We will take a glance at healthy emotions as well as the unhealthy long-term emotions.

Long-term emotions can have an unwanted negative physiological effects on individuals holding on to them for an excessive amount of time.

‘Having become desensitize
to everyday pleasures,
we escalate our demands
to include the extremes.’

This even includes pleasure. Having become desensitize to everyday pleasures we escalate our demands to include the extremes.
1“We are tempted to seek pleasure in other ways, by taking drugs, or over-indulging in pleasurable activities. Extremely hedonistic [pursuing extreme pleasures] lifestyles may be caused by compulsive behaviour leading to an endless craving for pleasurable sensations, or subtle damage to the underlying brain circuitry”

We will examine the issue of over indulgent a little later, but for now lets look at the purpose of emotions.Put simply; emotions are to 'ready yourself’ for action directly or indirectly. A perceived event is experienced consciously or subconsciously and action is taken. You can be the participant of the said action or your body signals alert others to take action. Either way actions are an emotional response to a stimuli or event. Fear can prompt flight or fight, and compassion can send body signals to prompt others to hug you. An event stimulates emotions to swell, cap, and collapse. The process is consistent from one emotion to another. However like a storm, emotions can vary in speed of formation, intensity, and longevity of the emotion. An emotion affects the anatomy of an action.

Emotional Control

I had the opportunity to examine a voice analysis of subjects under a great deal of stress. The results were quite remarkable. The graph indicated that people who were able to control their emotions tend to hover over or near the flatline area of the scale, labelled as the 'balance zone and the low zone’.
People who struggled to keep their emotion in check were situated on the ‘medium to high zone’ on the graph. Equally has interesting was the fact that the intensity of an upward emotion often had a negative counterpart with similar intensity. In other words, an up emotion is often paired off with a down emotion. Most people are not aware of the emotional pair because healthy feelings are experienced in the flatline to low intensity zones. They go unnoticed. However extreme fluctuations are apparent. Many people who suffer from an addiction, suffer from bouts of depression. People who balance their emotions are able to recover quickly while those living on the cap of an intense emotion require more time to deal with issues. Meditation is a good start to calming your emotions

What is Trichotomy? The Animal in Us / Part 9

As promised, I will now examined each segment of the trichotomy with greater details. The first 'In" of the threefold is called Intuition. In my last blog I had listed numerous traits for every segment. Today, however I will focus on the right side of the table - the physical.

Survival / Self Preservation

Survival is limited to oneself or self-interest (kin)

5 Senses

See - hear -smell - taste - feel ( neurological-network) Instinctive

Pleasure / Pain Driven

Top and bottom - no in between. Safe or unsafe. Good or bad. Fight or flight.

Fear

Short-term fear (reacting and not contemplative) Primitive emotion - not a true emotion.
All animals have this type of fear. However contemplative fear is another story.

Singularity

All about "ME"

Self-Reliant

Seek no assistance. Managing on their own

Independent

Tends to lead and rebel

Personalize

Leaves his/her signature of life on everything. Everything must be about him. Ego-centric to perfectionism

Disassociates

Recluse / Hermit - seek no socialization.

Self-Serving

Serves one cause - himself.

Animal

Primitive creature

Without the mental or the spiritual, we are reduced to a primitive creature. We must be properly balance in the trichotomy but as humans we experience pitfalls from time to time. This does not negate responsibility of our actions.

What is Trichotomy? Intuition and the Most Holy Place / Part 7

THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPIRITUAL

After classifying the human trichotomy in three segments; Instinct, Intelligence, and Intuition, I proceeded in detailing the first two segments (instinct and intelligence) and correlating it respectively to the Outer Court and the Holy Place of the biblical temple.
Today we move onto the last segment called Intuition, associating it with the Most Holy Place of the temple. Intuition, which can also be referred to as the spiritual, is motivated by faith and self-sacrifice. Now if you recall fear (a negative expectation) was the driving force to Instinct. It was motivated to survive through the use of fear to hightened its emotional and physical responces. Instincts cared for itself. However Intuition is focus on others. It is self-sacrificial. It will place the interest of others first. If we witness someone in need of rescue, we intuitively feel for that person. Now you notice that I did not use the word instinct. Instinct is purely limited to self while intuition is based on the mass. There is no instinctive value in placing yourself in danger to save a stranger. That is because it is intuitive to others. We simply know it is the right thing to do. Our intuition is at work. Now we may not necessarily do the right thing because your instinct may override your intuition.
Now Apostle Paul says in Galatian 5:22-23 that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If you were to do a thorough examination of these qualities you would find that they are anti-instinctive (anti-physical). They are meant to be share directly or indirectly with others. They exist in the plurality not self-serving.

What is Trichotomy? - Copies and Shadows / Part 3

The construction of the tabernacle was created to address men’s immorality by observing numerous ritualistic disciplines. It was an attempt to restore their relationship with God. But most people do not realize that the old were a copy and shadow of the things to come.

“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you and which ye have from God, and that ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's...” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV)

Furthermore the 1Temple High Priest served the copy and shadow of the heavenly things (Spiritual). The structure that housed God, along with its rituals that were experienced inside and outside the temple, were a mere shadow of what was to come. It was a pattern to indicate to us how to experience a personal relationship with Divinity inside your being. If one takes a closer look at the scriptures, the truth will unfold itself before our eyes - trichotomy of men abounds. Take a walk with me into the physical and spiritual temple. The first sign of trichotomy can be found in Genesis 2:7;
“Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground (first component), and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (second component); and man became a living soul (third component).”
